Invited by SYSTEMA

“Over 4 days, we won’t just learn (or unlearn) — we’ll co-create an exhibition together with the Provisional School for Nothing at the Palais Carli, Marseille, as part of Systema 2025.”

Provisional School For Nothing aims to think about the school, not as an institution but as a foundation, a primordial principle for action, for a worldview, for living together, as a broad social construction. The school we imagine is a school of reform, a place of revolution, resistance, participation, a provisional exercise, not effective, in transition, not fixed, for nothing, not productive, and the creative use of leisure through artistic and performative practice. A school that opposes No-How to the instituted Know-how.

KC Tour de France

by KC (Karaoke Cowboy)

Everyday at 5 pm · Main Staircase

+

Invited by reclame

Duration : 30 minutes

“For SYSTEMA, KC (Karaoke Cowboy), a singing and dancing persona shaped through karaoke, costume, and lo-fi performance, will appear daily at 17:00 on the main staircase for a 30-minute live act.”

Masaki Komoto (JP/NL) is a multi-disciplinary artist working with craft and performance to explore identity, humour, and the tension between sincerity and play. Since 2020, his persona Karaoke Cowboy has taken shape through karaoke videos and live acts that blur the line between the staged and the spontaneous. Underneath the humour and lo-fi aesthetic lies a deeper reflection on how we define and present ourselves online, in public, and in performance.
For reclame and SYSTEMA, he presents a new performance, slightly out of place, funny and genuinely sincere.

GPS Records x SYSTEMA Listening Session — Big Ego (1978), John Giorno & Anne Waldman (1977), and Totally Corrupt (1976)

From 6 pm · Main Courtyard

+

Invited by SYSTEMA

Duration : 1 hour 18 minutes 40 seconds

“Drawn from three albums in the GPS Records catalogue, this mixtape brings together recordings from the 1970s that merge spoken word, performance, and sound. Captured in both live and studio settings, these works reflect a moment when artistic disciplines overlapped freely, creating space for experimentation, collaboration, and political urgency. Presented here in a condensed sequence of under one hour and twenty minutes, the selection offers a cross-section of an era when the boundaries between poetry, art, and music were constantly being redrawn.”

Laurie Anderson, Robert Ashley, Imamu Amiri Baraka, Otis Brown, Michael Brownstein, Charles Bukowski, William S. Burroughs, John Cage, Jane Freilicher, Philip Glass, John Giorno, John Gruen, Susan Howe, Erica Huggins, Taylor Mead, Eileen Myles, Frank O’Hara, Claes Oldenburg, Sylvia Plath, Ed Sanders, Patti Smith, Anne Waldman

Echo Body

by Magdalena Forster

8 pm · Main Courtyard

+

Invited by Perrrformat

Duration : 45 minutes

Performance, Concept, Installation: Magdalena Forster

Production: Mollusca Productions

“In Echo Body, artist Magdalena Forster reclaims salvaged organ pipes, removing them from their traditional liturgical context and reintroducing these reanimated instruments into the realm of sonic and corporeal experimentation – as individual bodies, screeching, wailing voices and resonating chambers. Forster brings archival material into dialogue with architecture, audience, and the immediate surroundings. A network of movement and sonic exploration unfolds, incorporating hydroacoustics, wind, and extended vocal techniques. Both the artist’s body and the organ pipes become vessels of resonance, gradually activated, enlivened and animated with breath, culminating in an immersive spatial experience for the audience. The use of organ pipes reflects Forster’s ongoing inquiry into air, breath, and resonance. She is drawn to the moment breath becomes air, a subtle, physical transition that marks the threshold between inside and outside.”

Magdalena Forster is an artist, dancer and performer based in Vienna. Her work is rooted in material-driven processes and shaped by a tactile logic of interaction, manual practices, and her professional background in healthcare. She is drawn to the subtle dynamics of live and score-based performance, what emerges in the moment and echoes as sensation, an image, or momentary imprint. In doing so, she creates both intimate encounters and expansive interconnections. Her artistic practice is deeply connected to sonic inquiry, resonance, voice work, and breath.

The black black machine is music

by Europa

10 pm · Main Courtyard

+

Invited by Chess club

Duration : 20 minutes

“Europa is presenting a live performance combining music and poetry, created specifically for this event. This audiovisual piece serves as an introduction to the spatial intervention in the venue’s courtyard. Pyrotechnics and video are seamlessly intertwined to form the foundation of this folk-infused performance.”

Europa is an artist working at the intersection of sound, video, and spatial design. Treating music as a multidisciplinary medium, he operates across a wide creative spectrum – blending pop, ambient, trap, indie, and beyond into emotionally charged, genre-fluid compositions. His work straddles the edges of art and music, forging collaborations that extend into performance, visual design, and installation. With releases like Nobedience on Berlin’s boundary-pushing label Transatlantic, Europa continues to dissolve the lines between concert and experience. Whether behind the decks or engulfed in flames and visuals, his performances transcend the traditional, becoming sculptural, immersive environments. Pyrotechnic-infused audiovisual shows or bass-heavy DJ sets – each is a full-spectrum sensory journey, engineered with surgical precision. By extracting and reshaping the essence of genres, Europa crafts hyperkinetic soundscapes that mesh visceral intensity with emotional nuance. His music pulses with life, distorting the familiar into something radically new-blissful and blistering, immersive and unrelenting.

Blackmilk

by Tiran Willemse

11 pm · Main Courtyard

+

Invited by Perforrrmat (Zurich Switzerland / Nomadic)

Duration : 20 minutes

“Blackmilk is the first part of a triology titled “trompoppies” created by Tiran Willemse. Trompoppies is Afrikaans and describes drum majorettes performing a formation dance in uniform. The performance examines one of the choreographic elements of these dances:  the precise hand gestures.

By weaving the trompoppies disciplined movements with the melodramatic flourishes of white femme starlets and the dynamic gestures of black masculine rap icons, the performance navigates the chasm between portrayals of African and Afro-American male-presenting bodies. blackmilk challenges this narrow spectrum of representation through performativity.

Willemse probes the myriad affective bodies residing in the grey zones of legible identities, revealing a nuanced sensibility they term “black male melancholy.” In this charged performance, the artist, a virtuoso with a haunting, possessed gaze, subverts conventions and directs the spectator’s attention to the margins.”

Tiran Willemse is an artist, born in South-Africa and situated between Zürich and Berlin. His performance-based practise explores the body inside an unimaginable environment. Using physical depth to create sonic images that deal with the construction of systems, creating experiences that communicate somatic and psychological landscapes beyond the human condition. He has worked and collaborated with Eszter Salamon, Jerome bel, Trajal Harrell, Meg Stuart, Ligia Lewis, Andros Zins-Browne, Dorota Gaweda & Eglé Kulbokaite, Price (Mattias Ringgenberg) and with Cullberg ballet under Deborah Hay and Jeftha Van Dinther.
